Giving up TV

Well for Lent, we are not watching TV during the day.  I tell you, I don't really miss it all that much (well, maybe while I'm cooking dinner).  The girls are reading more and playing with their toys together. It's not as if we watched it a lot, but now they know that it's not getting turned on, so they don't even ask for it.  Singing and dancing, reading and playing.  Of course, with the rain today, it will be more of a "test."  Because the weather has been so nice, we have spent lots of time outside not even thinking about our programs.  I know that God will meet the girls (and me) in this time of fasting and I'm very excited about it.  Blessings.

the dishwasher

Andy noticed the dishwasher was making some crazy noise the other day, so he took it apart.  It was amazing all the junk (plastic, paper, lint) that was in there. I really didn't see any food.  Anyway, I am sure it is cleaning better now thanks to his efforts. At least it is cleaning more quietly.  It is so nice to have a husband that takes care of things around the house.  Blessings.

The girls are playing in the sandbox this morning as I type this.  (Too bad the camera is in the house.) It is going to be a beautiful and busy day.  We have friends (kids) coming over for lunch and Andy's coworkers from Cebu coming for dinner. Playtime will be over soon and I'll get my cooking game on.  We experience God's goodness in so many ways . Hope you are as well.  Blessings.

This morning, Mollie asked me at breakfast if I had pantophobia.  I said no, do you know what that means?  Her reply, I have no idea.  I know we watched Charlie Brown Christmas a while ago, but I had no idea that she was thinking about the lines from the movie this morning.  I guess I'll go play with my little "Lucy" now, have a blessed day.

picnic on the deck

It has been so unusaully warm and sunny for February, and we have been taking advantage of the nice days as much as possible.  Yesterday, I let the girls take their "picnic" to the back deck.  They had a ball.  Blessings.

Lenten Calendar
We are using this calendar with the girls this season of Lent.  We actually used it last year as well.  I know some folks give up things for Lent and others embrace an activity for the 40 days. I don't know about you, but the whole Lenten season sneaked up on me this year.  Blessings.

ballet flats

Well, Mollie is going to start ballet soon with a girl from church. She already is a ballerina, so I guess it's time for Andy and I to get on board and get her some lessons.  LOL So today, I'm running errands to prepare for her lessons which start in March.  Blessings.

Ruby Anniversary

Today my parents celebrate 40 years of marriage. I am so happy for them.  We got to celebrate with them this past weekend.  Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad.  Blessings.

The girls still have lingering coughs and some drainage.  The cold symptoms will not seem to pass.  After a coughing fit yesterday, Mollie declared that her throat was full of frogs. Oh my.  Blessings.

full night's sleep

Last night, the girls did not wake up even once.  Well, at least I think they didn't-the monitor was off.  I know I slept well without interruption.  They are just now stirring.  They've not been sleeping well because of their colds, so I am glad that they are catching up on some rest.  Hoping for a great day.  Blessings.

Mamma time

Last night I joined some friends for coffee. It was so nice to get out of the house for a while.  Andy said I could stay out until midnight, so I did a little shopping afterward as well - I picked up a couple things for this weekend's party for Betsy.  Today, I feel refreshed - which is a nice way to start the day since Mollie's cold is still lingering and Betsy is coming down with it.  I was not out until midnight, but later than normal.  :)  Blessings.

2 Betsy

Little Bit turned two today.  She is so precious.  She is generous with her hugs and smiles.  We are working on her sharing her toys, but generally she is giving and sweet. Our house is busy these days with an active, talkative two year old.  Happy birthday to you Betsy. Blessings.

my Valentines

Andy took me out to dinner last night - it was so much fun.  Then we celebrated with the girls this morning. They're having a good day. Hope you are too.  Blessings.

Monday, February 13, 2012

Here are the girls singing into their microphones.  They are having such a good time.  I love it when they find things they can do together.  Blessings.

a cold

Poor Mollie has a cold - fever, watery eyes, runny nose, and a cough.  We rested most of the day yesterday and it looks like we will be doing much of the same today. I don't mind too much - although we did have to postpone Betsy's birthday party.  Minor things when they're so young.  Next weekend will be busy, hope we're all healthy.  Blessings.

fast light

Last night, Mollie kept running around the kitchen saying fast light, slow light.  Andy tried to teach her red light green light but I think she likes her version better.  Blessings.

100 days

Last Friday, the girls and I accomplished 100 days of school.  So, we made cupcakes. They had a great time with that activity and with "school" too.  Blessings.

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

We have had such a mild winter so far, but last night it snowed!  Oh yeah.  The girls were super excited to get dressed to play outside.  Blessings.

Love Lang.

I took the love language test again with my small group from church and nothing has changed - I'm not too surprised at that.  Quality Time, Acts of Service, Gifts, Touch and Words of Affirmation. Of course, I try to do all of these things for the girls each day, I think children may not develop a true love language until a little later and they to experience them all on a regular basis. Hope you have love demonstrated to you in the way it is felt the deepest, and I hope you can express love to others in their love language of choice. Blessings.

first movie

Andy took Mollie out for a daddy date on Sat.  They went to see Beauty and the Beast in 3D.  It was Mollie's first time going to the movie theater and her first full length movie as well.  Andy said that she did awesome in spite of getting scared at some points in the movie.  I am glad that they could share it together.  Yay for daddy daughter dates.  Blessings.

Ps. 31:19

How abundant are the good things
that you have stored up for those who fear you,
that you bestow in the sight of all,
on those who take refuge in you.

personality test

I took a personality quiz last night.  It was interesting to see the results.  I found they were quite accurate in their description of me: an ISFJ - nurturer / protector type.  I'll share the link and hope you get some insight regarding your personality too.  Blessings.

Groundhog day

I don't put much stock in the groundhog or his shadow, but if we have six more weeks of the winter weather we've been having, I don't think I'd mind one bit.  Blessings.

This is the day that the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it.  Ps. 118:24
I woke up with this verse on my heart. More and more, I am realizing how blessed I am and how it is up to me and my choices to rejoice and be glad.  It does my heart good to walk in that knowledge.  Choosing gladness, choosing joy, choosing God.  Blessings.
